WorkLife Law condemns the recent immigration raids in Los Angeles and across the country. These actions are an inhumane violation of human rights that betray fundamental American values and directly undermine the work and family justice movement we champion.

The recent raids have terrorized immigrant communities. They have devastated immigrant women, children, and families, many now torn apart and without primary breadwinners or caregivers. Immigrants are the backbone of our care economy, healthcare system, and food supply chain – literally making it possible for everyone in the United States to live. By forcing immigrant employees to live and work in fear, these raids destroy the fundamental worker protections we at WorkLife Law fight for everyday. Workers have become more vulnerable to exploitation and scared to assert their legal rights. When people cannot safely advocate for themselves, workplace protections deteriorate and worker abuses increase, harming all.

WorkLife Law remains committed to defending the rights of all workers and families, regardless of immigration status, including by assisting immigrant families through our project Dar a Luz: Legal Rights for Farmworkers during Pregnancy and Postpartum. We recognize the many ways that attacks on immigrants weaken the entire work and family justice movement, and we stand steadfastly together with the immigrant communities around the country who are facing these attacks.

Resources for Immigration Support have been compiled by California Work & Family Coalition members, California Immigrant Policy Center, and Immigrants Rising.
